The front of the US Embassy compound is a good place to start walking Roxas Boulevard. Trees shade the pathway. But the place is not for taking pictures or hanging around. The portion that preserved its frontage is Manila Baywalk, famous for viewing the sunset. Baywalk has become a center for night life. Right before sunset, restaurants start opening with their own live bands which adds pleasure to dining with colorful lights. 
Roxas Boulevard is a prime highway along Manila Bay. It was named after former President Manuel Roxas, the first President after Philippine Independence in 1946. It is the main thoroughfare from the Manila Airport to the Ermita-Malate tourist district. Hotels, office buildings and restaurants dominate the land side until the south end at EDSA, the main highway in Manila.

The Walled City of Manila Intramuros is a medieval fortress at the center of Manila. Its thick, high walls enclosed the city for more than 300 years. For more than 300 years Intramuros was Manila. It was the center of almost everything in the Philippines. Filipino culture and traditions evolved from here.

There is an airport bus service to the city centre, and regular buses that leave from outside the airport every 15 minutes to traverse destinations along Manila's ring road.

The Philippine International Convention Center (PICC) is the most modern convention center the Philippines can offer to the world.
